The package arrived at my home in a timely fashion, and was packed very well. Hurray for "Auntie" and Planetary Design. He was thrilled with it, particularly when he did some research of his own on the model. He packs it with him on trips to the mountain, the coast, and parties at his friends.
This won't come close. Even if you carefully push the plunger down, some of the grounds can get stuck at the edge of the seal, causing it to have a tiny gap through which coffee can leak. I agree with everyone else on this list. The only thing to be careful of is if you overfill, so that the grounds are floating right near the edge of the carafe. Used properly, though, its a brilliant bit of houseware.Buy it now. One thing I particularly enjoy is the spout. Glass carafes always seem to find a way to dribble or spill.

First, it arrived in pristine condition within four days of placing the order without extra shipping charges. Though it looked more like a "thermos" than other French Press designs, looks were not as important to me as durability and taste. I placed my order through Amazon as the shipping cost was considerably less than the manufacturer's shipping cost.I have never been so pleased with a coffeemaking device as I have been with this French Press from Planetary Design and Amazon. I also thought it would be nice to have a press large enough to make 8-12 cups at once as his only made 2-4 cups in a fragile glass carafe-not something you'd want on the countertop with a very active Siamese cat in the house.
